Daily Prayers

The five daily prayers are held in the Masjid.

وَأَقِيمُوا الصَّلَاةَ وَآتُوا الزَّكَاةَ وَارْكَعُوا مَعَ الرَّاكِعِينَ
And establish prayer and give zakah and bow with those who bow [in worship and obedience] – Qur’an 2:43

The congregational salat (Iqama) is conducted at a fixed offset from the beginning of the salat times as distributed by the Masjid Committee at the beginning of each month:

– Fajr is held 30 minutes after start of waqt
– Dhuhr is held 15 minutes after start of waqt
– Asr is held 15 minutes after start of waqt
– Maghrib is held 5 minutes after start of waqt
– Isha is held 15 minutes after start of waqt

The Imam of Canberra Masjid, Shaykh Muhammad Swaiti, is present in the Masjid every day between Maghrib and ‘Isha.
