Canberra Masjid – Shawwal Update #2

 27 Shawwal 1441 AH / 19 June 2020

The Canberra Masjid is now open alhamdulillah but there are still some restrictions in place for the holding of Jumu’ah salah (Friday congregational prayers).

The five daily congregational prayers will return to normal inshaAllah.

For Jumu’ah salah specifically, the following measures must be adhered to until further notice:

  • Jumu’ah will start at 1pm sharp with a maximum of 100 worshippers permitted inside the Masjid.
  • The door will be closed once the capacity of 100 is reached inside.
  • We genuinely apologise in advance to those whom we are unable to accommodate for due to the restrictions.
  • Strictly no stalls will be permitted.
  • Please do not crowd in groups after the salah is finished – you may be asked to disperse.
  • Please observe and respect the Imam’s instructions on religious matters whilst at the Masjid.
  • Please cooperate with the brothers in charge of crowd control and other logistics, as the implementation of the stipulated measures is paramount to everyone’s safety and well-being.

The following general precautionary measures must be adhered to all times whilst attending the Masjid:

  • The Masjid is open for the five daily congregational prayers as per details on isact.org.au.
  • The courtyard and/or the outdoor shade of the Masjid will continue to be accessible at all times for the worshippers to pray at and hold jama’ah amongst themselves.
  • No more than 100 worshippers are permitted inside the Masjid at any given time.
  • The main hall may be inaccessible at times of the day when no authorised person is available to monitor safety and compliance, or for security reasons.
  • Physical distancing and hygiene measures are to be observed whilst at the Masjid where possible.
  • Exercise good hand and respiratory hygiene including thorough and frequent washing of hands.
  • Hand sanitisers and anti-bacterial hand washes will be amply available for use.
  • Please cover your mouth and nose with bent elbow or tissues when coughing or sneezing.
  • High touch areas will be cleaned/sanitised more frequently.
  • Please refrain from using the toilets and make wudhu at home – perform at the Masjid only if necessary.
  • Pray Fard (obligatory) salah at the Masjid, and non-obligatory salah at home – this is the Sunnah!
  • Sisters and children are permitted to attend the Masjid but encouraged to pray at home – sisters’ salah is more meritorious at home!
  • Those who are sick and/or have symptoms such as fever, cough, sore throat, or shortness of breath must pursue medical assistance and cease attending the Masjid immediately due to the undue risk to other attendees.
  • Attendees with flu-like symptoms may be asked to leave the Masjid immediately.

The Sunday School will inshaAllah resume in July after the school holidays.

We humbly seek your co-operation and understanding in the administration of the above arrangements. Please note that the we are not responsible for any consequences resulting from defiance of the above instructions. We also apologise in advance for any inconvenience, disappointment and unintended mistakes on our part. Please keep safe and observe all appropriate health precautions, and continue to keep in touch via isact.org.au or social media for the latest developments.
