إِنَّا لِلّهِ وَإِنَّـا إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعونَ
To Allah we belong and to Him is our return – Qur’an 2:156
Islamic Society of ACT will assist with necessary services pertaining to death and burial. The Association has a designated space for performing ghusl (washing) of the dead body adjacent to Canberra Mosque.
The Salatul Janaza (صلاة الجنازة) can be performed at Canberra Mosque. There are separate prayer areas for men and women. Non-Muslim friends are welcome in the mosque for funeral services; however, the proper dress code is expected. Salatul Janaza is a collective obligation upon Muslims (fard Kifayah) i.e., if some Muslims take the responsibility of doing it, the obligation is fulfilled, but if no-one fulfils it then all Muslims will be accountable.
The society will assist with the burial at the Cemetery.
Please contact Br Muhummad Waseem on 0412 780 978 for information and assistance, alternatively, please contact any member of the executive committee listed in the About Us section and they will assist.
