Lecture – The purpose of life

Brother Saleem is a lecturer for the Islamic Education & Research Academy (IERA). Brother Saleem has a rich background in Islamic knowledge including Islamic Creed, Principles of Islamic jurisprudence and Principles of interpreting the Qur’an. Brother Saleem serves as a khateeb at a number of Mosques in London, and also delivers Islamic study circles.

Upcoming Event – Eid ul-Adha Salaat and Celebrations – 2012

The outdoor Eid ul Adha Salaat will be at 7:30 am (for 8am start) at University of Canberra, Bruce at Oval #2, Grass Sports Field on Friday 26th October 2012 as advised by the Imam council of ACT. Please note that AIS is unavailable due to a sporting event.

The Eid ul Adha celebrations will be held from 10:30 am – 3:30 pm on Saturday 27th October 2012 at Black Mountain Peninsula, Garryowen Dr, Acton (off Lady Denman Dr) in Peace and Harmony. This will be a fantastic opportunity to meet with the local Muslims in a friendly Islamic atmosphere of peace, unity and enjoyment. There will be fun and enjoyment for children with jumping castles and other children activities. BBQ will be available most of the day.

The Eid celebrations will be held from 10:30 am – 3:30 pm on Saturday 25 August 2012 at Canberra Masjid, 130 Empire Circuit, Yarralumla in Peace and Harmony. This will be a fantastic opportunity to meet with the local Muslims in a friendly Islamic atmosphere of peace, unity and enjoyment. There will be fun and enjoyment for children with jumping castles and other children activities. BBQ will be available most of the day.

Ramadan Announcement !!

First day of Ramadan will be Friday, 20 July 2012 insha’Allah as per the decree from the Imam Council of ACT.

Taraweeh will start today (Thu 19 July) after Isha prayers. Isha prayers starts daily at 7:15pm for the first half of Ramadan.

يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا كُتِبَ عَلَيْكُمُ الصِّيَامُ كَمَا كُتِبَ عَلَى الَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِكُمْ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَتَّقُونَ
“O you who believe, fasting is prescribed to you as it was prescribed to those before you, that you may (learn) self-restraint.” Qur’an 2:183

The month of Quran

Before it came to be known as the month of Fasting, the companions of the Prophet knew Ramadan as a month of the Quran, the last and ever lasting divine guidance to humanity. “The month of Ramadan in which was revealed the Quran, a guidance for mankind and clear proofs for the guidance and the Criterion (between right and wrong).
